Pennies for Patients:
Our school has accepted the challenge of helping to find a cure for blood cancer! We are joining over 27,000 schools across the nation to make a difference and raise as much money as we can! Over the next 3 weeks, March 27- April 10 our school will be working towards raising as much money as possible to help fight blood cancer. Please bring in your pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters to support this important cause. We will be having a kickoff assembly on March 27th at 10:00 a.m.
HopeFest 2019 at National Center for Children and Families (NCCF) also known as Greentree Shelter (6301 Greentree Road, Bethesda)
on April 6, 8:30 to 2:30 with training on March 30.
HopeFest is an annual event in which foster parents come for training. During this day long event, the children are entertained on the grounds with a carnival filled with games, food, music, and arts and craft while their parents attend the conference in the nearby building. This year, Seven Locks is assisting with the event by manning four arts and craft stations. There are opportunities for families to help serve lunch, assist with egg hunts and field games as well as chances for 5th graders to man some of the activity stations. 5th graders manning an activity station will need to have an adult supervising. Last year about 60 kids attended this event. NCCP will provide a light breakfast and lunch for volunteers. There is a mandatory volunteer training session on Sat 30 March from 11 am to 1 pm on site. Mind Yeti for Seven Locks Students
Has your child come home talking about MindYeti? MindYeti is an online resource program that brings mindfulness to kids. Through funding provided by the Seven Locks Elementary School Educational Foundation's grant program, Mrs. Steinberg has re-newed a subscription to MindYeti for SLES! While some of our teachers use MindYeti in the classroom, any SLES family can have access to the MindYeti program. If you are interested in using this fantastic program at home, please feel free to email Mrs. Steinberg (firstname.lastname@example.org) for information on how to access this program.

Fourth Grade Parents Needed at Fifth Grade Promotion Ceremony
Seven Locks has a tradition whereby 4th grade parents help at the 5th grade promotion ceremony so that all 5th grade parents are able to enjoy this end of elementary school right-of-passage with their families. In keeping with this tradition, we are looking for 4th grade parents to volunteer at this year's 5th grade promotion which will take place Thursday, June 13, 5:45pm. This is also a great opportunity for middle school and high school students to earn SSL hours. Sign up here
